Healing Doesn't Always Have to Happen Alone.
When something difficult happens, we don't always experience it the same way—even when we've been through it together. One person may feel overwhelmed by anxiety or intrusive memories. Another might withdraw, struggle with sleep, or find themselves replaying what happened. Others may appear to be doing fine on the outside while privately struggling to make sense of their experience.
At EMDR Counseling Collective, we believe meaningful healing can happen both individually and alongside others. Our group therapy services offer structured, clinically guided opportunities to address difficult experiences in a supportive environment.
We currently offer Group EMDR Therapy for adults affected by shared traumatic experiences, including families, professional teams, first responders, and organizations throughout Arizona. Additional specialized therapy groups are planned for the future.
Our Current Offering: Group EMDR Therapy
Traditional group therapy often involves discussion, sharing experiences, and learning from other participants. Group EMDR takes a different approach.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people process disturbing memories and experiences that continue to affect their emotional well-being. In Group EMDR, participants are guided through a structured trauma-processing experience while working privately with their own memories, emotions, beliefs, and physical reactions. You don't have to share the details of your trauma with the group to participate. This makes Group EMDR a valuable option for people who have experienced a difficult event together but may not feel comfortable discussing their personal reactions in front of others.

Who Can Benefit From Group EMDR?
Group EMDR may be appropriate for adults who have experienced a shared traumatic event or critical incident, including:
Adult families coping with traumatic loss, accidents, medical emergencies, or other overwhelming experiences.
First responders and emergency personnel affected by distressing calls, critical incidents, or traumatic events encountered in their work.
Healthcare and helping professionals navigating the emotional impact of traumatic patient experiences, unexpected deaths, or other critical events.
Businesses and professional teams affected by workplace accidents, violence, sudden loss, or other incidents that have disrupted employees' sense of safety and well-being.
Community organizations seeking structured trauma support for members affected by a shared experience.
Although participants may have experienced the same event, their reactions and needs can be very different. Group EMDR respects those differences while providing a structured opportunity for healing.
What Makes Our Approach Different?
We don't believe effective group therapy means placing people in a room together and expecting everyone to open up. Our approach emphasizes clinical preparation, participant safety, privacy, and thoughtful treatment planning.
Group EMDR services include:
Small, structured groups that allow for individualized attention.
Specialized trauma treatment facilitated by an EMDR-Certified Therapist.
Individual screening to determine whether participation is clinically appropriate.
Private trauma processing without requiring participants to disclose personal details to the group.
Preparation and stabilization strategies to support emotional safety throughout the experience.
Individualized recommendations when additional support or ongoing therapy may be beneficial.
Sessions are coordinated based on the needs of the participating group. Services may be arranged for adult families, professional teams, and organizations, with appropriate consideration for privacy, location, and clinical needs.
Additional Therapy Groups Coming in the Future
We recognize that not everyone is looking for individual therapy, and not every challenge requires the same kind of support. We plan to expand our group offerings to address additional areas of emotional health, trauma recovery, and personal growth. Future groups may incorporate education, practical coping strategies, therapeutic discussion, and opportunities to connect with others facing similar experiences.
As new groups become available, we'll share information about their focus, format, schedules, and registration.
Interested in Group EMDR Therapy?
Whether you're an individual exploring options for your family, a first responder seeking support for your team, or an organizational leader looking for trauma-informed services, we're happy to discuss whether Group EMDR may be appropriate.
Every group begins with a conversation about what happened, who may benefit, and what kind of support makes the most sense.
