Burnout Recovery & Compassion Fatigue Therapy Group for Healthcare & Helping Professionals
A therapist-led group for healthcare professionals, therapists, social workers, first responders, educators, and caregivers throughout Arizona.
You chose a helping profession because caring for others matters but over time, constantly supporting people through illness, trauma, crisis, grief, and loss can begin to change the way you experience your work—and yourself.
Maybe you're emotionally exhausted before your day even begins. Maybe you're carrying difficult cases home, finding yourself increasingly detached from patients or clients, or wondering why you don't have the energy for the people you love most.
You might call it burnout. It might be compassion fatigue, or perhaps you simply feel like you've lost the part of yourself that once found meaning in this work. Whatever you call it, you don't have to navigate it alone.
Sustaining the Work of Caring is a six-week online therapy group designed specifically for healthcare and helping professionals who want more than another self-care checklist. Together, we'll better understand how chronic stress affects the nervous system, develop practical tools for emotional regulation, strengthen healthy boundaries, and reconnect with the purpose that brought you into this work in the first place.

Does This Sound Familiar?
You care deeply about the people you serve. Yet lately…
- You feel emotionally drained even after a day off.
- You replay difficult conversations long after your shift ends.
- You have less patience than you used to.
- You feel guilty taking time for yourself.
- You're beginning to wonder if you're "burned out."
- You've tried self-care, but it never seems to last.
- You still love helping people—you just don't love how this work is affecting you.
If you're nodding your head, you're in good company.
These experiences are incredibly common among healthcare professionals and helping professionals—and they don't mean you're failing.
Burnout and Compassion Fatigue Are Not Personal Failures
Burnout and compassion fatigue are often misunderstood as signs that someone isn't resilient enough or isn't taking care of themselves well enough. In reality, they're predictable responses to chronic stress, repeated exposure to suffering, and working within demanding systems.
Your nervous system was never designed to absorb high-stakes human experiences every day without support. This group isn't about becoming tougher. It's about understanding what's happening in your brain and body so you can respond differently—with greater awareness, healthier boundaries, and more self-compassion.
Why This Group Is Different
Most burnout programs focus on doing more. More meditation. More exercise. More gratitude. More self-care. While those strategies can be helpful, they often overlook the deeper issue: your nervous system has been carrying more than it was ever designed to hold.
This therapist-led process group combines meaningful conversation with practical, evidence-informed tools to help you understand your stress responses, regulate your nervous system, reconnect with your values, and build sustainable ways of caring for others without losing yourself.
You'll also receive access to a digital resource library filled with worksheets, nervous system tracking tools, reflection exercises, and somatic practices that support your growth between sessions.
What We'll Explore Together
Throughout our six weeks together, we'll explore topics including:
Understanding Your Nervous System
- Recognize the biological signs of chronic stress, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, and compassion fatigue while learning why these responses make sense.
Practical Regulation Skills
- Develop realistic strategies you can use during busy workdays—not just after you've reached your limit.
Reconnecting With Meaning
- Rediscover the moments of connection that originally drew you to helping others while learning how to stay emotionally present without becoming emotionally depleted.
Healthy Boundaries Within Demanding Systems
- Learn how to advocate for yourself, recognize systemic contributors to burnout, and establish boundaries that support both your well-being and your career.
Restorative Coping
- Differentiate between coping strategies that genuinely restore your nervous system and those that simply help you survive another day.
Reclaiming Life Beyond Your Professional Identity
- Reconnect with your values, relationships, interests, and sense of self outside of your role as a helper.

Meet Your Facilitator
Traci Andes, LCSW, RN
Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Registered Nurse
As both a therapist and registered nurse, I understand firsthand that the emotional demands of helping professions extend far beyond long hours and difficult days. Too often, dedicated professionals blame themselves for feeling exhausted when what they're experiencing is actually a normal biological response to chronic stress and repeated exposure to human suffering.
My approach moves beyond superficial wellness advice. Together, we'll explore how your nervous system responds under pressure, create practical strategies for sustainable regulation, and strengthen the boundaries that allow you to continue doing meaningful work without sacrificing yourself in the process.
